Finally the long awaited list for the Top 12 contestants of the Nigerian Idol season 3 sponsored by Etisalat is here. The Top twelve contestants were revealed at a Grande gala on Saturday, two days after Valentine’s Day at the Civic Centre in Lagos.
The major activity of the day began with IllRymz introducing all 12 contestants; sequentially they came on the stage showcasing their special gifts.
First was Vicci singing Trey Songz ‘Heart attack’, next was Safeeyat performing Beyoncé’s ‘Best thing I never had ‘. Then came Immaculate Victoria singing ‘Pretty girl rock’ by Keri Hilson. Vicky put up brilliant performance that raised the bar for the night. Sequel to that performance we had another outstanding performance from Jay Feel, with Taio Cruz ‘Dynamite’.
Dani Angus came up with ‘Best I never had’ by John Legend which gave the crowed a new dimension before Kome sang Rihanna’s ‘Only girl in the world’. Although not much of a trilling performance by Kome, Debbi Rise gave some hope performing Alicia Key’s ‘Girl on fire’.
Gradually came Joe Emmal’s turn and he did justice to Adele’s ‘Rolling in the deep’. Abasiakan choice of song betrayed his natural talent as he performed Cold Play’s ‘paradise’ but Amara came up strongly with ‘Good life’ by One Republic. Moses performed Jessie J’s ‘Domino’ while Efezino did Avril Lavigne’s ‘wish you were here’ as the last performance of the day. The beautiful event that marked the conclusion of the theater stage of the competition paves way for emergence of the new idol.
