An Estimated10 tonnes of meteorite the size of a duplex explodes over Russia. About 400 people have been reported injured after the incident occurred in central Russia. Some fragments were seen falling from the morning sky in the Chelyabinsk region at around 9am local time, around 1,500km east of Moscow. The meteorite has been monitored over the satellite for sometime before it hits the earth.
A meteorite is a solid piece of debris from such sources as asteroids or comets from outer space which always has devastating effect on impact with the Earth’s surface. Meteorite comes in various sizes ranging from small to extremely large. When a meteoroid enters the earth’s atmosphere; friction, pressure, and chemical interactions with the atmospheric gasses cause the body to heat up and explode with light being emitted. Meteorite can be very destructive that an impact of a very large one can wipe out an entire civilization.
