South African Olympic and Paralympic track star Oscar Pistorius shot his girlfriend four times through a bathroom door at his Pretoria home. Pistorius is due to appear in court on a murder charge. It is understood that the athlete, who is currently being held at Boshkop police station in Pretoria, is expected to apply for bail through his attorney at the hearing. However, reports reaching claimed that police in South Africa are posed to oppose the bail application.
Authorities have given only few details of the shooting, other than to say the girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp who is a model, died of gun-shot wounds. The body of the top South African model who was recently signed up to appear in a reality television program was discovered at the athlete’s property in the Silver Woods gated community in eastern Pretoria on Thursday 14th of Febuary 2013 morning with four gun shots wound from a 9mm pistol.
Steenkamp grew up with her parents in a small suburb of Cape Town. The family then moved to Port Elizabeth where Barry and June saw their daughter through St. Dominic’s Primary School and later proceeded to obtain Bachelor of Law in Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in 2005. Steenkamp initially worked as a paralegal before taking up her beloved modeling career with top appearance in FHM magazine and was the face of Avon cosmetics in South Africa.
Boyfriend Oscar Leonard Carl is a South African sprinter born on the 22nd of November 1986. Pistorius, who’s two knees, has been amputated, competed in the single and double knee amputees race. He is a paralympic World Gold medalist for (T44) 100meters and 200meters
